I never really liked duct tape because it was difficult and sometimes messy to use. I thought it was an eye sore, especially when you’re packing brown storage boxes. I prefer nice, clear, and hand-tear, packing tape (from Scotch).
… Why am I writing about duct tape? Because of 13 year-old Filipina, Leanza Abucayan, from Sacramento, CA. Leanza Loves Duct Tape is Leanza’s collection of fashion accessories (purses, bags, wallets, etc.) decorated with… you guessed it… duct tape. Not just the silver duct-tape, but brown, yellow, blue, red, white, pink, purple, and more. Yes, duct tape comes in a variety of colors and Leanza has found a super-creative way to use it- without storage boxes. Her design range from symmetrical patterns to cartoon-like characters. You gotta see it to believe it. At a community event, she was selling her bags around $30 and up. From a distance, her accessories look somewhat hand-painted because of the texture of duct-tape. Drop by her site to see her gallery. She also does custom orders. FYI- Leanza is not the only talent in her family. Her older sister, Lori, is an accomplished singer, and her brother Leejay, is a champion beat-boxer.
